Oliver: Night II
So tonight was the second of 3 performances for the Oliver! musical. It was a bit smoother than last night, albeit it had a few more quarks. For example, he heard the 2 minute call. I'm out waiting for my cue. The curtain goes up-and promptly breaks. See this time, instead of doing the traditional left to right curtain that has been used at the last 4 musicals, th
ey decided to try something new this year and go with the up down curtain. It's quite a set up, but it's broken twice. Once during the dress rehearsal, once right before this performance. But it had once upside: Better at the very beginning of the play where we have the option of starting over, then in the middle of the play where it ruins the whole flow of the play. People remembered some lines that they forget last as well, which is just as well, but there where some spots that where still rough. Last night, Dad forgot his lines completely, tonight was better than last, in that he made a comeback and was able to get back on his feet. Hopefully tomorrow will be the same or better.Inside the dressing rooms is a different story. See, in order to fill some of the rolls of pickpockets/orphans, they recruited several kids from the community. There are two of the them, whom I will refer to a kid No. 1 and Kid No. 2. Both of these kids have problems with keeping silent during the production. Kid No. 1 can't seem to sit still, while kid No. 2 doesn't know not to take stuff that's not his. Again, tonight was better than last, the kids where a bit more under control than last night.
I'll post tomorrow while I'm around the house studying and doing work.
