The Free Block Post
Well I have another free period today (again.) So I decided to make this a regular thing. When I have a free period at the last of the day or the first one in the morning I'll be blogging about something that pops into my head.
Today being September 11th, I can't believe it's been five years since the disasters of 9/11. I remember I was outside during recess when one of the duty's came along and said that some plains had flown into some buildings in the U.S. At that point in time, we didn't have specifics, but it was enough to get us scared. However the reality really didn't sink in until I got home that day and saw what happened on the news. It was made all the more scary by the fact that New York is not that far away from us (less than a thousand miles) And the
consequences of that one day where immediately evident. Thousands of international passengers where now stranded in Atlantic Canada. From Kings of the far east to stock brokers from Tokyo, people from all walks of life where stranded in
Although I didn't fly very much before 9/11 I have flown a considerable amount after the attacks. The summer after the attacks, my family and I flew out west to see family and travel. Security has increased drastically since 9/11. Before 9/11 you where not required to take off your shoes, submit to random searches and you actually allowed to carry stuff on the plane. When I went to D.C. last May I took on a Carry on with my Camera, iPod, a few books, wallet and my passport. Now if you fly to the U.K. you can't take anything with you on the plane. It all has to be checked away in your stow-away baggage. That means no watching a movie on your laptop or doing some work, listening to music or anyth ing. All you have to do on the airplane as Leo Laporte puts it is "Watch the Airline movie and eat the airline food". If I want to be bored while I travel I can take the train. I hope when I travel abroad in the next few years, these restrictions will be relaxed so that we can all enjoy everyday comforts technology and books on an airplane.
When I get around to finding some totally outrageous content I'll post again today.
