So the other night was the school awards night where they give award to the Grade 10 and 11's who have done well in a subject or gotten honors or whatever. So I went, and recieved my honors certificate. I wasn't surprised at this, I had calculated my average last year, right after I had received my rep
ort card. What I was surprised at was recieving the award for Canadian History. I wasn't really that surprised, considering I did get a 94 in the course and on the final exam. I currently have awards for 2 of the three history courses my school offers. My goal is to get the 3rd one to round out the collection. But that's not until second semester.Secondly, you might have noticed that the blog kinda had a bit of plastic surgery last night. That was my doing (obviously) I got rid of the wired looking futuristic Thunderbird looking logo to replace it with a graphic if my own design. Hence the V logo. Let me know what you think of the redesign.
I think I'm starting to get this stuff. About time too. I was rudely awoken this morning by my mother. Went to the tutor who is n
ot a "math purist" like my math teacher. Came home. Went from about 10-9:30 with only about an hour's break in total. Tomorrow is going to be major crunch time as I have to go through both exams and study for Canadian History. On the upside, I get to go down to Kaisers for lunch (Kaisers=killer sub place) as well as sleep in. I'll be so glad when Wednesday afternoon roll's around. That's when I don't have to worry about bloody Math 11 ever again. Then I can actully get back to doing what I love: ranting, blogging on vox, actully having something of a life etc. I can't wait.In other me related news, I also purchased Thousand Foot Krutch' Absolute. Loving it. Thanks to Boredsvunut for the comments on the Punk/Heavy Rock. I'll check 'em out tomorrow
My C. History class is a bunch of children. Now this may seem quite juvenile coming from somebody who has yet to met the age of majority (18/19) and is still classified a child by the majority of the country. Allow me to explain. As I have mentioned b
efore, I have a large amount of work to finish in the next weeks. (read:Continuing the Month of Hell) I had a C. History test on Sovereignty. It was supposed to be today, 3rd period. However, a small minority in the class started to whine and complain that they didn't know that material that was going to be on the test. There main argument was that due to the fact that the buses where not running on Tuesday, they didn't have there stuff to study. The teacher conceded this to be an extremely weak argument, and after giving these people a lecture, resheduled the test for tomorrow morning, second period. Right after my math test. Now, I'm not going to whine and complain and cry out the to blogosphere saying how it's not fair to the people who studied. I'm simply going to state that I am not happy that a small minority in a class of 40 students can push the test off because they are to lazy to bring the material home to study. Hence why I called my history class a bunch of children. What happens when they get a test in University that they haven't studied for. There not going to be able to go the professor and say to him in a sweet and/or whiny voice "I didn't study for the test can you please push it back to x? The professor will roll his eyes take two asprin and say no. Why? Because this is the real world. Things are set in stone. What's set in stone cannot be changed. And therefore, those people will be screwed. I'm going to glaze over the material tonight because I already know most of it, but if one of these people ever tries to pull a stunt like this again, I think I might explode.Today is the start of a month on the grindstone as I'm going to call it. Why? Well first of all, because I have exams. Only 2 mind you
but one is a math exam and if you've been reading this blog since September, you know that I HATE math and that I suck at it. Second thing is that I have a test to rewrite in math. So I'm trying to get this test rewritten as well as balancing the current math unit and my other subjects, although they're not as much of an issue at the moment. Mom is limiting both my computer and TV time so I'll try to get a post or two in each day, but I'm going to spending most of my time studying for exams etc. Hopefully I should be getting my components in the next few weeks and I'll post about that as soon as I get them and set them all up, but other than that, It's going to be a slow month on this blog as I go through the painful, albeit necessary process of midterm examinations. So that's another check mark down the list. My math assigment that I have to pass in Tomorrow is done. The essay, that is supposed to be 1,000-1500 words is 1800 words. Then I also have a 7 slide Powerpoint that as well. Now Monday is the crunch day. I have two tests, one in Canadian History 11 (easy) and another in Sociology (also easy) as well as a small Soc. assigment (ditto) So most of the hard work that was "hard" is out of the way. I just have to get that Powerpoint done in about an hour and then study Soc and Canadian History for a few hours and I'm good.
Another thing. My parents are no longer going to New Brunswick this weekend. Apperently my grandmother thought she couldn't handle the trip, so she decided not to come. So Mom, Dad and company are no longer going to drive 6 hours to go to a funeral. That means everything is back to normal. No going to grandparents and suffering through Dial-up hell. Don't get me wrong, I love my grandparents, but I hate Dial-Up.
Anyway, I need to get to bed, school tomorrow n' stuff.
I'm home for Free Block tomorrow, So I'll post then.
Got 3 of my tests back that I wrote in the past several days. I wrote my Math test yesterday and got the results back today. I got a 60 out of 100 on this test which is better than the 19 I got on the last test. The better mark is probably
due to the fact that I have an awesome tutor which I go to see once I week and everything makes sense now. So that's the math, I also got my Sociology and Canadian History tests back today. I got a 80 on my Sociology test which I'm happy with, which I basically winged half of it (don't tell my mom that.) And the same with my Canadian History test which I got an 82 on. I'm very happy with my test scores, considering I thought I had failed one or more of the tests. See, I had a lot of work to do last week when I had several tests and projects within several days of each other and I can only split an hour so many ways. But I got good marks on all of my tests and I think I did well on my math assignment and Sociology presentation I did yesterday, so my marks should be heading up. I told Mom when I got home and she was quite happy with the results of my tests.Second thing is that I would like to wish all of my friends on Vox who are writing NaNo Wrimo good luck. Especially Boredsvunut and MainMor. I wish both of you luck in your endevour this month as you write a 50,000 word novel. Bored, I hope you don't drive me crazy and Mor, I hope you don't drive your family crazy. I might try it next year when I get more of knack for writing. Good Luck!
That's it for October, Here's Comes November and then December, egads, then 2007!
I have my free last thing today and that means that I'm allowed to get out early. Sorry I couldn't blog last night, but things where busy and I couldn't get around to do it. And it's someone's Birthday today. I'll give you a hint: We use it often and it's become a catchphrase. If you guessed Google kudo's to you. That's right, today, 8 years ago Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, in Moutain View California. Once just the domain of web geeks, Google has become a household name with the phrase "Google it!" became a househould phrase, fueling G
oogle's popularity on the web. With the launch of Gmail over 2 years ago, Google has become even more popular. With the release of things like Google Calendar and Google Video, Google has become more popular still. Although some things do need to be improved. The interface in Gmail for one, as well as the fact that it's invite only. Another thing is Google Page Creator which looks like frontpage, and doesn't have very much power as of yet. But all in all, Google is a great company and the exact opposite of Microsoft of the 3 piece suit culture. Google allows you to wear almost anything to work and all the food is provided free of charge. They'll even send you out a car as far away as San Jose to pick you up and drop you off every morning. Now that's a company that cares about it's employee's. One day I would like to work for Google. But that's not likely to happen for a few years as you need a bit of qualifacation to get into Google. But it's still cool.
Today was interesting. This morning I couldn't find my key's and had to use my spare to get into my locker. Then at break I misplaced my lock (I dropped it in my bag, inside the locker.) and then I went to Canadian HIstory. Everything was normal. er, well not really, considering the teacher never showed up and the class spend 20 minutes sitting in the room doing nothing. All in all it was a pretty bland day. Tomorrow should be somewhat better as I get to leave early after I do the Terry Fox
*waits impatiently for new system of doom to get here*
Finally! I just finished both my Canadian history project and my math homework. Tomorrow is TGIF and I can't wait. But I'll elaborate on that later.
With Apple's announcement yesterday of, among others things, iTunes 7. Now less than 72 hours after the release of iTunes 7, people are whining about it being buggy. Now while a few things are buggy, my first impression of iTunes 7 is that's it a pretty good program. A few bugs have poped up however, most of the features are intact. The visual styles are improved, as well as iPod management. My only complaint is that of the "Gapless Plackback". It doesn't seem to work as well as Apple made it out too. And then there's the issue of the skipping. It doesn't happen that often, but it's still realitivly annoying. One of the major improvements, however is the video playback. I found, in iTunes 6, video playback was, at best, very chunky. Now with the release of iTunes 7, the video playback is much improved. The nice fade out controls help as well. I like the new source list. However another coverflow leaves much to be desired. I suppose it works much better on a Mac, however I have a half-decent video card in my box here (FX 5200) and 512 RAM in there and the Coverflow still doesn't work that well. My Final comment is that download option for the Coverflow, as of right now is hideous. I have almost 70 albums in my collection, however the majority of my albums don't have the "beautiful cover art" that his Steveness promised the iPod faithful.
I'm off to a family camp thingy tomorrow, so I won't be able to post until at least Sunday. I'll see you guys then

*sigh* I hate.bloody.Math.Homework. I'm not the brightest at it as you can probably tell. However my Math teacher can be kind of a moron at times. He decides that since he wasn't impressed with the overall mark of the class so he's going to assign the work again (different equations.) Me who got a 7/12 on the work, I though I did quite a good job by my standards. But I still bloody hate Math homework. I'm writing this while on break from doing homework. I also have a Canadian History project and a Sociology article to read. But the Math homework that really irks me.
Thanks to a heads-up from Boredsvunut I've been trying out Firefox 2 Beta 2 for the past day. When you install and startup Firefox 2 Beta 2, Firefox will check to see if your extensions are compilable. Most of mine are, however a few of my theme's (Crystal Dream, mac fox) are not. This is not a big deal as one of the major features that is hugely visible is the new visual style. The new default theme in Firefox has a Web 2.0 glossy feel to it, with things like the extension/theme menu being combined into one and the search engine menu being revised. Search engine management has been revised and is much easier to both add and remove search engines. Another new, very visible feature is the inline spell checker. For me who is not very good at speeling speling spelling it's a great thing to have. Firefox 2 is do to be released on Oct. 24th of this year with Firefox 3 to follow in the first quarter of 2006.
